Need help on Desk Colour!
Comments (5)Hi again. I see where Dytecture is going with this. It's hard to say, really, because the only existing colour you mentioned was white. Once you put something coloured or dark in the space, your eye will zoom past the white and look at the colour or the visual weight of the piece. When I was recommending something white or colourless (glass and metal), I had in mind that you probably don't want to make the desk your only feature. I would recommend having your desk as a functional piece that blends with the decor, but I would definitely add punches of colour elsewhere. Large colourful artworks on the walls, a couple of bold colour-blocked cushions on the sofa (see Dytecture's first picture above), a grouping of three very tall boldly coloured vases (different heights), and so on. These will give you the pizzazz you're looking for. In an otherwise white apartment, a dark or coloured desk is still not going to give you much style or impact....See MoreNeed help with covering windows on French doors that are very close to
Comments (11)I have to say that well made Roman Shades are not cheap, they are the higher end of the market. Secondly the thing to consider is that they are an all or nothing product, they are either open or closed. What part of the country do you live in? What direction do the windows face, and how often are those doors used? Drapery that can not be moved completely out of the way will get caught in the doors all the time, so while I hate taking out a window for any reason, removing it might make sense as it seems rather redundant. Don't do any type of venetian if this door is used a lot, and if you do, make sure you do an outside mount, allowing for the stack to go above the frame of the doors when they are open. I suggest that you look into Hunter Douglas Polysatin Shutters, they are great on french doors, and the Hunter Douglas Duette Architella Vertiglide is perfect on doors, they also come as a duo light, meaning you can put two blinds into one product - so a sheer and an opaque or semi-opaque product. Just some thoughts to consider....See Moreneed help for my bedroom!
Comments (1)First of all, your floor shouldn't constrain you. You can resolve its impact on the room by placing a large rug on the floor. I would go for a soft shag cream rug so it is textural and literally soft on the eye and feet. Then, with your bed and furnishings around the walls, you can "break" the join between floor and wall and paint your teals or greens... a soft green that veers more to olive than lime could work, as could a soft teal... hard to say without photos......See MoreNeed help and idea of room change over.
Comments (1)Lots of storage built along one wall to get rid of clutter th e green wall would probably be best then a desk and more storage under window. Paint the room a soft gray with white cabinets some nice beddig and a great piece of art above the bed....See MoreJohn James O'Brien | Inspired Living, by design
