Awkward Blind Corner in Kitchen--Cabinet Solution?
Comments (16)Thanks, lefty47. This is an older home, and just as One Plan guessed it is a soil stack from the upstairs bathroom. You are probably right that the cost of a custom solution may outweigh the benefits. Another idea I had, along the lines of the worktop bin suggested by One Plan, is a recessed spatula and long-handled utensil holder. I found out that Lee Valley sells motorized tv lift kits like the one used in the video above. It would be a matter of getting the contractor to build the box to go on the lift. I'm still a bit hung up on the idea, though it probably falls into your cost-outweighs-benefit category! I may bring this photo around with me when interviewing prospective contractors, just to see how they answer!...See MoreWalk In wardrobe design
Comments (5)My walk-in is slightly longer (1.60x3.60m) - I only have the design with measurements on paper, but I could look for it this evening, scan it and post it for you if you want. In the meanwhile, have a look at the photos of the finished room. We took advantage of the height and got pull down rails; also, a big shelf above the door and narrow shelves on the side. I wouldn't get a radiator in there, or at least not a classic one - have a look at some towel warmers - their output is normally good enough for a room that size, plus you can use it to hang stuff on it: http://www.nevellidesignerradiators.co.uk/Elvina-Designer-Chrome-Towel-Radiator---Reina/232.htm Lighting, I think the best are directional track lights, e.g: http://www.wayfair.co.uk/Track-Lighting-C1802193.html?itemsperpage=96&sortby=6&curpage=1 Otherwise, just search 'compact walk-ins' in Houzz phots. Hope this helps....See Moreremodeling of the master bathroom
Comments (7)Master bedroom with the bathroom door closed. The Chinese wedding cabinet will move to another room. Now with the door opened and a wider view of the bedroom. Getting closer. The sink is protruding quite a lot in the room. I imagine one rectangular slate that is going from the door opening to the column. A view from the other side. The bath tub with the door closed. The same with the door opened, blocking the access to the tub. A view showing the glass that forms part of the corner of the room. I an thinking of hacking the glass area and the portion of the wall between the glass and the door leading to the bathroom, leaving the bottom part to prevent water from going to the bedroom. To close the space, I am thinking of folding nyato panels similar to the cabinet's doors for a unified look perhaps with some areas in stained glass for a Peranakan accent....See MoreBest way to configure this kitchen wall
Comments (0)I am planning a kitchen remodel, and I would like to fit a 33" double wall oven cabinet, 24" pantry cabinet, and 36" refrigerator (with 1.5" end panel) plus the 36" doorway into the dining room on a wall that is 132.5" long. I have had a few kitchen designers offer the following configurations: 1) Oven next to fridge (it's a double oven, not a single as pictured)- requires shifting doorway to dining room 6" to the right from it's current location 2) Oven in corner opening into kitchen- requires shifting the doorway to the dining room 3" to the left from current location 3) Oven in corner orientation flipped to side- no adjustment to dining room doorway needed Here is an overview of the entire layout, for more details Which option (if any) do you think would work best in the space and why?
