Ideas for nightstand and art in bedroom?

Hello, I’m looking for ideas for nightstands and maybe something to hang above the bed.
Right now the nightstands are too low compared to the Californian King size bed (cherry color I think). I’m not planning to replace the bed and the dresser.
I’m not sure what to put on the wall behind the bed: art? light fixture (not my first choice because we already have recessed lighting)? wallpaper? nothing?
I like purple, it’s the color theme in the adjacent bathroom.

10 years agoYour new bedside stands should be tall, but they should be relatively narrow because you don't have a lot of space on either side of the bed. Look for taller cabinets in similar wood colors or contrast it with painted cabinets in another color. Look up "Chinese Wedding Cabinets".......They make great bedside stands.
Find a large canvas painting stretched over a board (with no frame) in shades of lavenders and browns to hang over your bed... It should be almost as wide as the bed.

Comments (10)What do you think of a mirror for the backsplash on the kitchen? You cant see the pic here, but it faces a huge window on the other side of the room. I love the idea of grey/ dark cabinets, (with a wood coloured surface worktop) but might cost a small fortune to rework it. Will check on prices. The wallpaper idea is also really nice - much to mull through. so hard to decide! I'm thinking of replacing the dining table set with a booth + round table seating and maybe add a mirror behind it space. Comments (4)First you need to purge and clean up. Living in a bit of chaos makes it hard to define spaces. I strongly suggest you find ways to store clothes etc . There are under the bed storage units and cabinets you can buy to make some order. First paint that green wall either the blue or the white (or is it a light blue). Or paint the whole room one lighter color ( a beige, a gray, a pale blue) . The lighter the color , the bigger the space will look. I've 'bought' you a large closet ( chifferobe or armoire) to put your clothes in. It would be about 6 feet tall and 3 -5 feet wide. I put it across from your bed. I moved your desk ( is there actually a desk under your stuff in the room???) to your window , facing out the window. If you need privacy, some blinds or a pair of curtains ( hung high over the window) would be nice. I placed your white cabinet ( I can see on the left) next to your bed to double as a nightstand and for storage. I would suggest trying to match a set of sheets ( preferably white) and a nice bedspread ( comforter). I can't see a TV in your room, but if you do have one and are allowed to wall mount it, do so. You could likely place it on the wall to the left of the large closet. Comments (5)Hello, In 3 years time, you need to put back the wall since u have a 9 yrs old Son hitting teenager and expect own space or your girl would prefer her private space as girl and part of build self-respected lady. Beginning putting them together helps build bond and family strength. Best to start building independence early, makes your parenting easier. Build a home rather than a house. A space is meant to build relationship. With your family size, I would not suggest breaking wall. Extend living room, best is extending into balcony by creating same levels as living room. Now got zip blinds which seal aircon space within balcony open to living. Having glass showcase is good for your toys display. See idea from Ikea. For your new home starting, get basic done prosper. Basic means the essentials. For other parts, take your time and enjoy finding more ideas and shopping around till the great feeling comes to u. If not sure, I think Ikea has many combinations so if u do not like after few years, easy to do make-over. Expensive furniture is too painful to change. Ha! More space for bedroom? use the folding type beds and double as study table. I use platform bed like Japanese room. For Long dining tables, there are extendable type when guests comes. Ikea comes cheapest. There are premium in other Malls. Get extra chair that is stackable not foldable, hurt kids fingers and takes space. 10 years agolast modified: 10 years agoYou could go a few different directions on this. The night stands could match the cherry wood on your head board and that is the easy fix too. Or, You could go with something more romantic in nature, such as mirrored glass night stands.
It is a good idea in decorating a room, to go with a certain type of "Theme". In other words, You need to decide what way you want to go with the actual feel of the room. Do you want more of a Rustic look, a Modern Look, or a Romantic Look?
I see you like purple and silver. So, for sure bring that into the heart of this bedroom. And, to me it appears to be modern with a touch of Arbian Nights. :)

I like your "branches" coming up from the dresser, but not sure how they are tied down. Get a nice purple vase for them to come out of.
As far as art above the bed: Possibly Silver branches, and maybe along side a Spectacular silver oval Mirror. Or just the mirror that has the overall branch look. There are many of those available.
