What should I do with these two lines?

I wanted to expose this whole brick wall but the contractor hacked some parts to put in electrical pipes so now I'm left with two cement lines on the wall.

I was thinking of plastering the spaces between the two lines so that it looks like a column but I don't think the outcome will be good.

I actually like it as is, ads lots of character. If it makes you crazy, call a mason. If you go the mason route, observe carefully as the work is done. You don't want it to look like a bad band aid attempt. Good luckl!

I would hire a professional mason for some ideas and advice.

this brickwork can be 'repointed' with the original cement to blend in, a few of the orig bricks maybe required, just look online for method or call a mason.

The tile person should be able to demo and replace the tile. Most should know how to do drywall sufficiently enough to clean up their own mess. Most wallpaper people also patch walls and paint. There will be other things that need to be done, but between those two people they can lead you in the right direction. Just make sure to get this information before you start with a clear understanding of what those two are willing to do, and have it all planned out ahead of time. They may, for instance, be willing to remove a toilet to wallpaper behind it, but then have a plumber put it back.

What a great room! If you enjoy the general Monochromatic feel of your room I'd go with white or silver (see 'option2' photo) and let your accent pillows do the accenting! The blue hue on the wall actually simplifies your color options. Either pull that color in through a patterned application as mentioned above (see 'option1' photo) or just stick to silver/white. How about adding some faux beams to cover the area or cover just that section with some nice reclaimed wood? I have seen photos on houzz where they had used old sections of lath and plaster. You could get creative here. What turns out to be your biggest dilema can often be your greatest design idea. What room is this? Could it possibly be covered with a cabinet or large freestanding piece of furniture?

Just curious... is this an indoor space or outdoors? What are you going to do with it? It looks very cool... honestly, I don't mind the "lines" but I'm sure there are things you can to do minimize them. Calling a mason is a good start.

Another option would be to bring in a an artist / faux painter to paint the concrete to match your bricks......

-- Well, this is a shame but I'm sure that you will enjoy having the powert in this space. The walls are awesome so do what ever it takes to fix the wall. I have no solutions for you except to encourage you to call in a mason. Those guys know their craft so I'm sure he/she could patch things in seamlessly.

Looking at the left side of the door opening it looks like the wall is only 1 brick thick. If this is the case you have very little room between the surface of the brick and the new electrical conduit, so removing this concrete and replacing with a veneer of old brick will be extremely difficult and laborious.. if even possible. Some of the rest of the wall does not look to be in fantastic shape either… so do you have a different wall that would work as the exposed brick wall? Then just cover this one with some other material. Or …just leave the exposed section as a frame around the door opening. It looks like if you may have enough to leave an equal sized section exposed on either side of the door opening up to the ceiling.

What if some of the bricks are swapped out for bricks here and there from other parts of this and other walls so to spread out the cemented bricks and camouflage the "lines"? I expect that if the electrician had removed these bricks once then it can be done again without compromising the stability of the wall? There must be some parts of the building you can change tiles from? I do also think this is a job for a patient mason.

call a mason. wall needs tuckpointing and the bricks replaced where the electrician went wild. it is questionable how he buried the conduit in the brick wall.

I believe the Apache technique of hanging the hacker upside down in front of the wall scars would be a somewhat satisfying remedy...

I also like the "old world" look of it "as is". Every brick wall has a story and this one has some battle scars that add to it's rustic nature.

ooohh never thought of faux beams before! This will be my bedroom. I wanted to have sorta like an industrial theme. I would have a closet but then it would be blocking a huge part of the brick wall- which is the main idea

and yes, it's only 1 brick thick! The people hasn't really finished it. There's still some grouting and cleaning left so the end result will look much better that the photos.

Exactly what I thought! Having equal sized section exposed on either size of the door. I'm still contemplating. Would it be too small. What do you all think?

Thanks for the suggestions people! I've never come across the term tuckpointing before and wouldn't have without your ideas.

Trying to get a handle on what this room is- you say bedroom? will the door be the entry to the bathroom? You could consider hanging a sliding barn style door on a track which would move to the left to close the bath. and conceal most of the wall area when open.
