Area Rug HELP, please
I'm looking for some suggestions for an area rug that will complement- not clash with- our tiger wood floors.
This is an upstairs 2nd living area. Rather a blank slate, right now, as I just "cannibalized" the room re-purposing some very comfortable furniture in another room in the house that gets more use. Not a lot of "strong" artwork on the walls, but one is a photo of a Santa Fe sunset. An old poster from a very meaningful time in our lives.
I like fairly "quiet" looks- not looking for stripes, bold patterns. Shag doesn't work with my Beagle's hair- a nightmare to vacuum! t keep getting pulled towards grays with a bit of teal, but that can get really "blue".
Examples are very much appreciated!
This is the room. Back area is a fully furnished working office. Fairly contemporary, clean lines but neutral. The other space is where the living area is. Good representation of the color of the floors

Comments (10)you painted that? it's stunning! you can do a lot with just a rug. I have 2 toddlers 2.5 yrs old and 19 months old. and I used a low pile indoor/outdoor rug from Walmart. it was like 40$ for a 5x8. it was soooooo easy to clean even when it was blackberry stains! if you really don't want a to buy a rug there are a ton of DIY area rugs on pintrest where you take a cloth and tape it to a non slip pad, then toss it in the wash! brilliant right? you can definitely use 2 big pillows, the have a mustardy/yellow one at ikea (you can wash the covers and switch them too) and maybe a couple small accent pillows. but LOVING the painting...and I wish it was mine..K bye lol! :)...See MoreLiving Area Layout - Dilemma
Comments (8)Hi Dagobert Duck (interesting name), I am assuming that this is a townhouse in Asia, as you mention the dry kitchen and wet kitchen (terms used mostly in Singapore) and also from the visible lift on the plan that you shared. I would definitly advice you to keep the dry kitchen and place the dining table close to the dry kitchen or close to the bay window on the left. The space here is rather large and can easily accommodate a regular 2 metre table with 8 chairs. If you are concerned about the view of dining table as you enter the house, you could always place a round table near the entrance to block off the view. I agree with Elaine about placing the furniture away from walls. Place a bunch of fresh flowers or art/sculpture above the round table like in a hotel entrance. So the the first view you see when you enter the house is the table with flowers. Its difficult to give you any further advice as we have no idea what your final vision of the place is? I think a beige rug will brighten your space and still show off the beauty of your wood floors.

6 years agoJust for fun I tried to photoshop the rug I chose for you into your room. I think I need to leave the photoshopping up to my designers :) But you get a general idea of how this lighter rug will look in your room with your lovely wood floors.
