Awkward Blind Corner in Kitchen--Cabinet Solution?
Comments (16)Thanks, lefty47. This is an older home, and just as One Plan guessed it is a soil stack from the upstairs bathroom. You are probably right that the cost of a custom solution may outweigh the benefits. Another idea I had, along the lines of the worktop bin suggested by One Plan, is a recessed spatula and long-handled utensil holder. I found out that Lee Valley sells motorized tv lift kits like the one used in the video above. It would be a matter of getting the contractor to build the box to go on the lift. I'm still a bit hung up on the idea, though it probably falls into your cost-outweighs-benefit category! I may bring this photo around with me when interviewing prospective contractors, just to see how they answer!...See MoreClueless on rug color! Help me find my perfect rug!
Comments (27)You already have your accent colour as your sofa pillows (log roll pillows). I would take one of them shopping with me to get a rug that has that colour in it. It doesn't need to be a lot of that colour (I love the idea of burgandy rug here...but it might be too much with your monotone scheme). You can find a large rug that incorporates that red/raspberry in it so that you have a colour that is now your accent....See MoreSingaporean Houzzer? Say Hi!

Comments (1)HI Evan, I think you have answered your own question. A quick makeover usually involves acquiring some new furniture, change of curtains, fresh lick of paint or simply some new scatter cushions and a plant. It all depends on what you are looking for, how much you want to change and of course more importantly what your budget will allow. You could stretch the budget a little by perhaps painting only one wall and why not do it yourself and make it a little project and save money as well. Money that perhaps could be used for something else. Its not easy to give you an exact idea of a concept or budget unless we know what you want and would like from your space. Your existing pieces of furniture, curtains, art etc will play a huge part. That is if you decide to keep or change what you dont like? Is there some piece of furniture or art that you feel you need or want or would like? Browse through some magazines and scroll online for some great ideas. Gather some ideas and if you still are not certain then heed the help of a professional who might give you some ideas. Whether its a small makeover or a full on renovation, remember that every item adds up to your budget. So make certain of what you would like before you start. Hope that helps, if not give us a call and we would gladly come around for a cup of coffee....See MoreBitOfADoer Uper
