Comments (14)I also have an overwhelming need to see something curvy, flirtatious and round in the space. Consider this when scouting for decor and accesory items (i.e. round rug, curvy fluid light fixtures). Also, would it be a complete abomination to sand down the furniture (so it looks older) or painting it a new color before upholstering to modernize it? I agree with j222b's suggestion in that the furniture and space could benefit from some eclectic coverings but perhaps a neutral fabric against a new color that could bring out the carving of the wood could work too? In my head I see a rusty orange or deep aubergine purple or rich dark green. Just a thought......See MoreCeiling Mounted Lights
Comments (4)Especially in 50's and 60's houses, they often went through and put one kind of fixture, in the center of every room and the halls, and they were two bulb rectangular flat glass, frosted, sort of fluted edges and a simple (wheat pattern is what I grew up with) and they caught every bug around. I understand wanting variety, sometimes it may be the way to give a unified look to the house. Those look a lot more than the typical inexpensive utilitarian lights though....See MoreWhat colour should I select as my curtain? My bedroom is grey.
Comments (3)I would definitely consider an off white colour as this will be a safe, and probably more attractive option with the colours your stated on your bed. However the sheen may not go well with the green and white laminate, if the chandelier go well with the decor of the room then I think going for a sheen finish could easily finish off the room! However if not it could really make your room have two contrasting style schemes. Off white would also look good, but if you like a bit a glam, then a sheen finish is a fantastic option! What other stuff do you have in your room? Is it possible to upload a picture as many 'minds' can make light work lol. We cannot really comment on adding things to brighten it up but I am sure there are designers on Houzz that can help. :)...See MoreNeed help to determine where to place my inbuilt oven
Comments (14)Hi Fred, Thanks for the want of the precise measurements. The U shape area in my kitchen is 64" - 104 - 99" (left - centre - right). Height of the kitchen area is 107". The wall with the fridge has total length of 99" Fridge is 32" wide, 29" deep, 73" high (I bought this fridge on a good bargain but realized it was slightly oversized in this kitchen area, but got to live with it now) The wall beside the fridge is 23" deep I know some gap has to be left between this wall, the fridge and the wall mounted/countertop cabinets for ventilation I guess. So I'd say the cabinets on this wall will have a length of only 63"/64"? The microwave is 18.5 wide, 13" deep, 10.5" high The oven is 24" wide, 24" deep, 24" high. The wall next to the fridge which will have this feature cabinet 42" wide, 110" high which is next to the main door. I'm thinking the feature wall is kind of plain, but it covers up where the fridge is sticking out....See MoreCarolyn
