Need input on living room layout- thanks!
Hi there
right now I’m trying to put my living room back together! The only thing that may be staying is the tan/camel couch! below is a photo that I love of a living room and I would like to replicate something similar:
my challenges are this: I think the ottoman is too big- correct? This one is a 48” square and I think a 40” would fit better..
i placed chairs around the room just to get an idea of the space- where the black two chairs are- should I do something similar and get more of grey/ white accent chairs in that spot? Or a longer couch?
where the brown arm chair is- should I put something similar in a light blue or white/ grey?

Comments (5)Hi Trishtham, you can consider to have a see through TV feature wall or a glass panel wall with lower part as your TV console to create the location for TV and space for wall outside bedroom 2 as the location for sofa. Comments (8)Hi Dagobert Duck (interesting name), I am assuming that this is a townhouse in Asia, as you mention the dry kitchen and wet kitchen (terms used mostly in Singapore) and also from the visible lift on the plan that you shared. I would definitly advice you to keep the dry kitchen and place the dining table close to the dry kitchen or close to the bay window on the left. The space here is rather large and can easily accommodate a regular 2 metre table with 8 chairs. If you are concerned about the view of dining table as you enter the house, you could always place a round table near the entrance to block off the view. I agree with Elaine about placing the furniture away from walls. Place a bunch of fresh flowers or art/sculpture above the round table like in a hotel entrance. So the the first view you see when you enter the house is the table with flowers. Its difficult to give you any further advice as we have no idea what your final vision of the place is? Comments (8)Hi Charlie, Hope these two suggestions work. The first one is similar to your initial idea, I just changed the orientation of your sofa and TV console. I suggest a modular sofa where you could make it L-shaped or two separate love seats whenever you like. Where you put your island looks like a good place; least amount of reno/hacking! Comments (5)have the sofa and dining table in the center. Dining table against the back of the sofa either the longer or shorter side. Can shift table to accomodate more people. 3 years agoOk so once I moved my enormous tree after Christmas and got the white couch- I may not think the ottoman is too big now? At first I thought it was just way too big but now I kinda think it looks ok? But also still big? Maybe a smaller one would be better? And do you think the leather tan chair is too mid century? I’ve had that chair forever- But originally wanted an accent chair(s) but now don’t think 2 will fit.. so maybe a more comfy lounge chair in dark grey? or leave the way it is? Thanks!
And still want to replace media console with something more neutral and longer
