Lincoln Square Modern
Purchasing an early twentieth century home in the Lincoln Square neighborhood that our new clients wanted to gut, and expand the building to create a new home for their young family.
At the historic front facade we respected the original structure while modernizing it using large pane windows. We stained the brick to change the color palette, and as the clients wanted some privacy at their entry we created a new modern porch using ipe to form a screen giving the porch some sense of enclosure while making the entrance wider and more inviting incorporating concrete stairs into a concrete planter as well.
Inside we created an open and modern layout focused around a new custom steel and white oak stair stretching from the basement to the second floor capped by a skylight.
At the rear of the property we created an open kitchen with custom built-in millwork that serves as a home office and eating nook. The family room is separated from the kitchen by a small set of stairs that give the family greater height and opens onto the rear deck by way of a multi-slide door.
At the rear of the home is a modern addition in cedar and painted cement board siding.
