Mark Your Calendars for These Archifest 2017 Event Highlights
The theme 'Building Agency' is fleshed out in fun, interactive events from October 4 to 15
Archifest 2017’s theme, Building Agency, is about architecture’s function as “important materials and spaces of urban life”, engaging its users more than ever today. From October 4 to 15, throughout the city, Singapore’s architecture and architects will be doing exactly that: engaging us. Through these five headliners – Archi-Interfaces, Archicraft, Architours, Conversations and the SIA Conference – the annual festival will invite conversations and establish greater collaboration between various institutions and communities. Check out this sneak peek, and save the dates in your calendar.
Archicraft
Let your kids become architects for a day on Friday, Oct 6 (2-5pm), or Saturday, Oct 7 (10am-1pm), at The URA Centre, in ArKID Build! (pictured above).
We’re saving our Saturday (Oct 14), 12-2:30pm, for the Great Architectural Bake-Off to watch Singapore’s top architects and designers put their creativity and design skills to the test as they compete to build some of the world’s most iconic buildings entirely out of cake.
You can also choose from eight workshops curated by the Young Architects’ League from the Singapore Institute of Architects (YAL) and SUTDIO from the Singapore University of Technology and Design. Topics include how 3D printing has impacted the practice of architecture, how to compose a thought-provoking architectural photograph, and growing your very own personal ‘farm’.
