A perfect playroom space for two young girls to grow into. The space contains a custom made playhouse, complete with hidden trap door, custom built in benches with plenty of toy storage and bench cushions for reading, lounging or play pretend. In order to mimic an outdoor space, we added an indoor swing. The side of the playhouse has a small soft area with green carpeting to mimic grass, and a small picket fence. The tree wall stickers add to the theme. A huge highlight to the space is the custom designed, custom built craft table with plenty of storage for all kinds of craft supplies. The rustic laminate wood flooring adds to the cottage theme.

ASID Award Winner, Design Ovation 2015, Teenager Bedroom - 2nd Place.
Doesn't every teenage girl love drama and color? This one certainly does with her bedroom fabric of contrasting flowers and wildly repetitive patterns. The walls are painted chartreuse green and the ceiling is a pale blue custom matched to the bold fabric. The large floral design canopies over the twin beds have a multicolored stripe border. The draperies have a chartreuse mesh over a large scale, circular pattern of green and white circles, like a beach bag. The twin beds are custom upholstered in an off white, shagreen pattern, embossed leather. We kept her favorite navy bedspread and pillows but added a chaise in a bold blue to pull the color across the room for balance. A cream, textured night stand floats between the beds. More texture is added with embroidered accents pillows and matching lampshade.

A lovely kids room perched above central park in New York. A narrow bedroom fits two twin beds toe-to-toe. The built in beds with separating curtain allow for privacy and doubles as a puppet theatre. Photo by Gabe Border

When a 7 year old Brooklyn hip-kid is also an animal lover, you get this woodland boy's room, designed to grow and maximize storage. This small kid's bedroom features a storage bed, wall shelves, a spacious desk hutch, and a storage ottoman to accommodate ample toys and books, as well as a custom designed closet to suit a growing child's needs. Hipster Animals removable wallpaper is fun for a 7 year old, but still cheeky and cool enough for a teen. And while woodland animals abound, they are balanced by mature decor elements like neutral colors, dark blues, boyish plaid, and chic wool and leather textures meant to grow with child. This room is one of our favorite small space designs - it's fun, personalized, and makes the space look bigger--while also providing storage and function.
