Houzz Tour: This Penthouse Gets A Hamptons-inspired Makeover
The classic Hamptons style was given a slight Asian twist in this penthouse
Known best as an affluent seaside community in New York, the Hamptons is synonymous with a decorating style that is at its heart, classic elegant American style, but with a casual, rustic and relaxed feel.
Wanting to achieve this look for their new home, the homeowners turned to Martin Ngo of Schemacraft, who transplanted the Hamptons style to the home without compromising on their personal taste and preferences.

Wood features heavily in the home. From the engineered wood flooring and furniture to the blinds, warm brown hues add to the rustic vibe of the home.
Making good use of the area under the staircase, Ngo built a recessed bookshelf that also doubles as a place to display some of the homeowners’ art and collectibles – a great way to inject their personality into the home.

Ngo shares that the furniture was selected by the homeowners while the light fixtures were sourced collectively.
Taking the cue from the Oriental art pieces in the home, the homeowners chose an Oriental-style birdcage light fixture for their dining room. The simplicity of the design complements the art perfectly.

Ngo added bench seating to the bay window to give the homeowners a compact reading nook.
Detailed white cabinetry, luxurious marble and plenty of light are Hamptons elements that the kitchen possesses.
The master suite is on the second level of the penthouse. Wanting to maximise storage in the bedroom, Ngo built cabinets beside the bed and integrated them with the headboard. The false ceiling which cleverly hides the electrical wiring, is also clad in wood, giving the bedroom a cosy feel.
Also on the second level of the unit is a rooftop deck with its very own swimming pool. Ngo added an outdoor dining set to serve as an alternative dining spot; perfect for hosting and entertaining.
Keeping with the neutral colour palette, the homeowners opted for marble tiles in their bathroom for look that is elegant and timeless. The mirror and vanity also reflect the Hamptons-inspired look the homeowners love.
