6 HDB Flats Ahead of the Game in their Classic Blue Statements

In December 2019, the Pantone Color Institute announced its forecast for the colour that will reign in 2020: Classic Blue. It was chosen because it represents “constancy and confidence in this time that requires trust and faith”.

Interestingly, we’ve seen this colour in Singapore homes before. Since 2017, we’ve been featuring HDB flats with feature walls sporting the solid, dependable and, at the same time, bold hue. Have a look at these stunning designs:

Design Brief: Grunge-chic look of an industrial warehouse-turned-loft apartment, with a room to house a small gym, a study, and guitar
Blue feature: The focal point of the living and dining area, made of concrete screed with vertical and horizontal groove lines and holes, is framed with the arresting deep blue paint of the walls and beams.

Design Brief: A clean-lined, cosy ambience with a Scandinavian influence
Blue feature: A niche in classic blue draws the eye in the living area; furniture is in shades of blue as well. Feature walls in the master bedroom and study are also painted the same bold blue.

Design Brief: Create ample storage, maximise the natural light and make the spaces more functional
Blue feature: Blue lines outline the TV-and-storage feature wall with cabinets in richly-hued timber strips.

Who lives here: A family with two children
Design Brief: Freshen up the family home, providing more storage and infusing a relaxed yet elegant feel.
Blue feature: The sofa wears the classic blue hue, flanked by new, built-in storage in a lighter shade that runs through the storage features of the rest of the house.
