Houzz Tour: Bespoke Furniture Optimises this 600 Sqft Condo
It's all about customisation to maximise the limited floor area of this apartment
For the bachelor owner of this condo, its features and spatial design were adequate for his needs, but storage was lacking. He needed more, as he wanted his new home to exude a clean, minimalist ambience inspired by the Scandinavian style. So he turned to Icon Interior Design to renovate his pad.
Lee’s focus was all on the furniture and the finishes. “All the furniture has been customised”, he says. This customisation included cabinetry and feature walls with both open and concealed storage.
Because of the design direction to go bespoke, Lee was able to scale the furniture to the apartment’s limited built-in space. This meant that he could fit in a four-seater dining table in a compact space, without the space looking and feeling cramped. The two-seater sofa looks plush, instead of simply small.

Customisation also meant using finishes that created the Scandi-style ambience that the owner asked for. Lee used wood-look laminates on the cabinetry and feature walls to bring that cosy, hygge feeling to the clean-lined, minimalist apartment. He used Nippon Paint’s Momento paint on the living area wall to add subtle texture – another hygge layer.

In one bedroom, the designer went for a moodier feel with shades of grey to match the bespoke wood-finished headboard with built-in bedside tables.
For the other bedroom, Lee went for a bright-and-breezy wood and white ambience. The custom-made bed here was designed with storage cabinets to maintain the room’s uncluttered look.
The shared bathroom echoes the light grey tones of the apartment.
